There’s a new federal resource to get free FDA-authorized coronavirus test kits. At COVIDtests.gov, you’ll find information about testing and a link to the U.S. Postal Service – special.usps.com/testkits – where you can order up to four rapid tests to be sent to your home address. Or order your kits by calling 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). Your kits will be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service within 7 to 12 days.

The tests are completely free. There are no shipping costs, and you don’t have to give a credit card or bank account number. You only need to give a name and address. Once you place an order, you’ll get an order confirmation number. If you give your email address, you’ll also get an order confirmation email and delivery updates. Anyone who asks for more information than that is a scammer. So, remember:

  • Go to COVIDtests.gov or call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) to order your free COVID test kits from the federal government. Online, if you click to order, you’ll be redirected to special.usps.com/testkits. If you follow a link from a news story, double-check the URL that shows in your browser’s address bar.
  • No one will call, text, or email you from the federal government to ask for your information to “help” you order free kits. Only a scammer will contact you, asking for information like your credit card, bank account, or Social Security number. Do not respond. Instead, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Please share this information with others and stay connected to stay informed. Subscribe to consumer alerts from the FTC to get updates delivered right to your email inbox.

If you spot a scammer offering COVID test kits, tell the FTC about it right away at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Or, file a complaint with your state or territory attorney general at consumerresources.org, the consumer website of the National Association of Attorneys General. Your reports can make a difference by helping us investigate, bring law enforcement cases, and alert people about what frauds to be on the lookout for so they can protect themselves, their friends, and family.

I ordered my tests and received confirmation of order on January 18. I have yet to receive shipping information or the tests. Is there a way to track the order status? Everyone i know who ordered after me have received theirs.

Still waiting for my tests to arrive I live in a huge apartment complex and no one on my floor has received their test yet from the Government. When are you actually going to mail out the tests? I ordered mine the first day the site went up to place an order. Still no tests!

Two at home Covid-19 rapid test kits sent to me without my knowledge. I called the national hot line (1-800-232-0233) for covid test kit to raise my concern, the Rep I talked to didn't know how that would have happened. She said citizens must order/request to receive the home test kits. I live in Texas, and the test kits were sent out from USPS -MDC TK in Topeka, Kansas. How could this happen?

I placed an order onto the government's website for a free at home covid test kit for myself (to my address) and one for my brother (to his address ) on January 18th. I received a confirmation email but has not gotten an email giving a tracking number. As of February 1, 2022, neither one of us has received the free covid test kits. What should we do next? Is there a backlog? Can or should we reorder?

I just tried ordering free Covid test and it said this address already got them. But I’m in a different unit from the main house. And I tried apartment A. Also tried suite A. I tried last Tuesday and was told the same thing. Someone told me there was a problem in the system but it had been corrected?? Apparently it hasn’t!!

I placed my order for test kits and only received 2. An email was received stating the kits are on the way. What happened to the other 2? Mail carrier delivered to wrong house or kept them?

I ordered our tests on the first day they could be ordered. My mom ordered theirs. My neighbor ordered theirs. They have received theirs already. I have not. Please advise.

I tried to order this "free test kit" & it keeps telling me it was already ordered for my address even though I put in my correct apartment number. I never ordered this test kit before. There are 90 units in my building, so I'm sure others have ordered this kit, but certainly not from my apartment, I'm the only one here! Very frustrating!

Where are my Covid tests? I ordered them weeks ago, and they didn't arrive in my mail box. My son got his two hours away in the state.

Where ARE the free government corona virus test kits? I ordered mine on 1/19 and I have yet to even get a tracking number. The government requires I test weekly; yet they can't get a test to me.

I ordered tests on Tuesday, January 18th and have yet to receive them! My daughter, who lives in another state, also ordered on the 18th, though later in the day than I, as I was the one who told her about this offer, received hers several days ago!! What is up with this process?
