Tired of getting unwanted calls on your home phone? Here's what you can do about them. You can use call blocking to stop calls before they get to you, silence calls from unknown numbers, or send suspicious calls straight to your voicemail.

First, ask your carrier if your home phone uses VoIP. If your phone uses VoIP, you can subscribe to an online call blocking service. If your phone is instead a traditional landline, you will need to buy and install a call blocking device. Read expert reviews, or talk to your carrier to get recommendations and to find out what services it offers.

Call blocking won't catch every unwanted call. Report unwanted calls to the FTC. Tell us the number on your caller ID, and any number you're told to call back. Learn more at ftc.gov/calls.
