Did a platform ignore your request to take down an intimate image shared without your consent? Report the platform to the FTC. This video walks you through every step.
Transcript
Nobody wants their intimate photos or videos to be shared without their consent. And everybody wants an easy way to make sure they’re taken down. Thanks to the Take It Down Act, platforms have to give you that easy way to ask — and they’re required to take down those images within 48 hours.
If they don’t, TakeItDown.ftc.gov is your next step to report the platform.
In a few clicks, tell us which platform you’re reporting, where the image is posted, and a bit about your experience trying to get the image taken down. You tell us about up to five images in each report, if they’re all on the same platform. But if they’re duplicates of the same image, don’t worry about reporting those. The platform also has to find and remove known identical copies within 48 hours.
Next, we’ll offer you the option to share as much as you want about yourself — or the person you’re reporting for. Hit submit, download a copy of your report, and you’re done.
We’ll also give you some ways to help stop the spread of images, places to get more help, and where you can go to report the perpetrator.
So spread the word: help hold platforms accountable. Go to TakeItDown.ftc.gov.
