As the Coronavirus takes a growing toll on people’s pocketbooks, there are reports that the government will soon be sending money by check or direct deposit to each of us. The details are still being worked out, but there are a few really important things to know, no matter what this looks like.

 

1. The government will not ask you to pay anything up front to get this money. No fees. No charges. No nothing.

2. The government will not call to ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or credit card number. Anyone who does is a scammer.

3. These reports of checks aren’t yet a reality. Anyone who tells you they can get you the money now is a scammer.

Look, normally we’d wait to know what the payment plan looks like before we put out a message like this. But these aren’t normal times. And we predict that the scammers are gearing up to take advantage of this.

So, remember: no matter what this payment winds up being, only scammers will ask you to pay to get it. If you spot one of these scams, please tell the Federal Trade Commission: www.ftc.gov/complaint. We’re doing our best to stop these scammers in their tracks, and your report will help.

My 2018 tax return—- I received a refund that went direct deposit. When I enter my info to the irs.gov they are telling me that my info does not match their info? I am retired from the federal government and I receive ss and gov retirement which are both direct deposit. As of today I have not received the stimulus check?

I think it's really unfair that the US Treasury and the federal government things that Social Security representative beneficiaries anybody on SSI does not deserve to have their money now considering that they are in need of food and to pay their bills as well as people that's working I think it's very unfair that everybody has to wait until met some time to receive their stimulus money

On April 20, the Social Security Administration said if you get Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability benefits, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you don't need to take any action with the IRS.

Social Security said "You will automatically get your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits."

It would be a very bad Idea for your landlord to try and evict you right now since they have set up protection again evictions and foreclosure during this pandemic. Also protection from landlords taking entire stimulus for back rent. In fact it appears that the only people unable to get help to survive are those owing back child support apparently that makes you worse than any other debtor in the country and makes your life worthless God Bless America where your lives matter......unless you owe back child support.

I've filed my taxes for 2019 and received both the fed and state tax returns before March, but still haven't received my stimulus, I know I haven't been claimed on anyone else's taxes, the IRS website said my payment status is still unavailable. Will people that are unable to work due to cancer or other life threatening illnesses and are not on disability or ssi be eligible to recieve the stimulas check? Nothing is being presented on this during any discussion or being addressed at all.

All of you yes, if you recieve benefits on the Direct Express, then that's how the stimulus will come, if you still get a paper check (gov is requiring all benefit recipients switch to this card soon.)

What about people who aren’t working due to maternity leave? I took the school year off yet they are basing my stimulus check on last years income. I currently have no paycheck or source of income. My husband pays for everything and he is out on disability this year.

Itreally dont make any sense why ss just didnt pay everyone and gov reimbursed them back would of been hole lot faster and easier . Ssd nonfilers still awaiting there payments. Here it is the 25 and still fumbling there fingers . They dont care there not fooling anyone , all there doing is messing with everyones heads on top of all that we have to worry about now days . Everyone was suppose to received $1,200.00--I got $900.00 the first day they issued these. I am retired, 77, earned under $10,00.00 as a substitute teacher. Can anyone explain this?

I used my savings account for my refund but my bank is kicking back my stimulus payment because the IRS is calling it a checking account! The account number is correct but it’s a savings account not a checking account! THIS IS CRAZY AND NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT.
