Please visit Coronavirus stimulus payment scams: What you need to know for the most recent information.

As the Coronavirus takes a growing toll on people’s pocketbooks, there are reports that the government will soon be sending money by check or direct deposit to each of us. The details are still being worked out, but there are a few really important things to know, no matter what this looks like.

1. The government will not ask you to pay anything up front to get this money. No fees. No charges. No nothing.

2. The government will not call to ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or credit card number. Anyone who does is a scammer.

3. These reports of checks aren’t yet a reality. Anyone who tells you they can get you the money now is a scammer.

Look, normally we’d wait to know what the payment plan looks like before we put out a message like this. But these aren’t normal times. And we predict that the scammers are gearing up to take advantage of this.

So, remember: no matter what this payment winds up being, only scammers will ask you to pay to get it. If you spot one of these scams, please tell the Federal Trade Commission: www.ftc.gov/complaint. We’re doing our best to stop these scammers in their tracks, and your report will help.

Keep up to date with the latest Coronavirus-related scams at www.ftc.gov/coronavirus or by signing up to get these consumer alerts.

Just imagine.....A disabled veteran lives on whatever meager funds received once each month, hence fixed income, won't qualify for "any" stimulus money because vets don't even make enough to file taxes...Now, you mean to tell me that disabled vets aren't effected by all this pandemic event???.. Disabled vets have to stay holed up at the house, buy all the the supplies and necessities that the people making up to " 75,000 dollars a year must purchase, get the full amount of the stimulus payment???? This also goes for SSA and SSI recipients must also endure..How can this even be imagined in the proposed package by our wonderful government to do this to ex military that sacrificed their lives during service ended up with a permanent disability for the rest if their lives, be excluded from them "Full" stimulus payment??? Who now believes the US Government truly cares about American Disabled Veterans.. As well as the elderly and seniors who have paid their taxes over a course of a lifetime.. Now the Govt. Uses a 1 year 2018 tax form????You have got to be kidding???

I'm a US citizen that was living abroad for a few years and I just moved back to the US in December, and started working in February 2020. I'm guessing this means I will not be getting a check since I do not have a 2018 or 2019 tax return? Would really help out this single mom of 2!

Will people who are waiting to win their SSDI get a check? I saw post saying if you didnt file 2018 taxes get nothing. Meanwhile people who make good money, "the ones overloading their supplies" get rewarded? While the people who really are suffering dont get anything? Will the people who took their last bit of money to pick through the leftovers of the rich get the stimulas? So its all about people who perfectly capable of making it through this that are getting more than they deserve. SSI receipenants need this money to. Average receipiants make 700 a month! I havent found info on my situation or even a number to contact anyone for information.

We who receive Social Security or some form of disability have low incomes,. Therefore, we should be equally entitled to some stimulus money during this time. I remember when the Obama administration did the stimulus package we did receive money.

We must demand all people on disability must receive a stimulus check , period! Now is not the time to discriminate against them on top of the measly amount they are expected to live on ! When we we have an answer to the question?

I am currently on SSI and can't afford to pay my bills now why are we getting screwed out of $1,000? I have a child also she's 11 years old so I have to live on $803 a month for myself and my child doesn't that count as something? how is the economy going to go back up if they're only sending out checks to people that paid taxes last year? I pay taxes I pay house taxes I pay school taxes doesn't that count? I think President Trump should give the thousand dollars to everyone because we did work in our lifetime before getting on disability doesn't that count? President Trump I think you should read our comments because they're coming from the people that vote
