Please visit Coronavirus stimulus payment scams: What you need to know for the most recent information.

As the Coronavirus takes a growing toll on people’s pocketbooks, there are reports that the government will soon be sending money by check or direct deposit to each of us. The details are still being worked out, but there are a few really important things to know, no matter what this looks like.

1. The government will not ask you to pay anything up front to get this money. No fees. No charges. No nothing.

2. The government will not call to ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or credit card number. Anyone who does is a scammer.

3. These reports of checks aren’t yet a reality. Anyone who tells you they can get you the money now is a scammer.

Look, normally we’d wait to know what the payment plan looks like before we put out a message like this. But these aren’t normal times. And we predict that the scammers are gearing up to take advantage of this.

So, remember: no matter what this payment winds up being, only scammers will ask you to pay to get it. If you spot one of these scams, please tell the Federal Trade Commission: www.ftc.gov/complaint. We’re doing our best to stop these scammers in their tracks, and your report will help.

So I go to college and don't work I get help from the government. I heard that college students don't get anything but if you have a child you do. So does that count for even people who do not work? or just for people that work? I've been trying to sign my baby up for social security because she has a syndrome. Due to the syndrome I don't work because I constantly have to take her to see her specialist they didn't approve her the first time but she's almost 2 still doesn't walk or crawl, she can't eat food past baby's 1st stage so she pretty much has to drink formula & eat Gerber I was going to go back to social security to try to apply again but then everything closed. That's why I am asking if only workers get it or if I would qualify?

I was wondering the same thing as I only get food stamps too and have no income either. Therefore I'm not required to file taxes so I wanted to know if I would receive any money from the stimulus package too? I haven't found any answers either, so let me know if you do?

So what if the non-custodial parent Was able to claim the kids on his 2019 tax return because I didn’t make as much money as him BUT my children are with me 100% of the time. Is there someone I can contact to inform them that the EXTRA $1000 he’s going to receive from the stimulus package will NOT benefit the needs of my children whatsoever during this tragic time.
