A while back, we warned you about the “one ring” scam. That’s when you get a phone call from a number you don’t know, and the call stops after just one ring. The scammer is hoping you’ll call back, because it’s really an international toll number and will appear as a charge on your phone bill — with most of the money going to the scammer. Well, the scam is back with a vengeance, and the FCC just issued a new advisory about it. Read the FCC’s advisory for more detail, but the advice from both agencies remains the same if you get one of these calls:

Here it is: My name is Louis Thomas I will like to know if you do render catering services and make Chicken Caesar Salad? i have a family Reunion coming up in February 15th 2020 and also if you accept credit cards as form of payment?? Best Regards Any ideas? As I said I’ve been receiving it for years, always a different sender. This time louis homas8767@

I am told by my cell phone provider that my 4 rings before going to voicemail cannot be extended to 6 rings, and that is mandated by the "network". The contact was not known, hence this comment that I should be able to have at least 6 rings before voicemail cuts in.

Thank you for this article!! I usually touch the notification on my cell screen, and my number pad pops up so I can unlock the phone and read the message, etc. if it is a missed call, my phone dials the number immediately.! I keep forgetting to open my screen by clicking the home button. I got one today...the number my phone dialed was not the same as the number showing on the missed call.
