Free COVID test kits are back: Here’s how to get yours

Starting November 20, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. If you didn’t order tests since the program reopened in September, the site will let you place two orders for a total of eight tests. Order your test kits through COVID.gov. Orders will ship free starting the week of November 27, 2023.
The kits will include instructions on how to verify extended expiration dates. Many kits have had their expiration dates extended beyond what may be printed on the packaging.
You don’t have to pay for shipping, and you’ll never be asked for a credit card or bank account number. You only need to give a name and shipping address. If you’d like an email confirmation and delivery updates from the U.S. Postal Service, you can submit your email address. Anyone who asks for more information than that is a scammer. So, remember:
- Only go to COVID.gov to order your free test kits from the federal government. When you click to order, you’ll be redirected to special.usps.com/testkits. If you’re following a link from a news story, double-check the URL that shows in your browser’s address bar.
- No one will call, text, or email you from the federal government to ask for your information to “help” you order free kits. Don’t give out your credit card, bank account, or Social Security number. Do not respond. Instead, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Our tests arrived with the seals broken. We have to throw them away.
These (I believe the authentic government-sent ones) are a con: mine have an expiration date three months ago, and nothing like those lot numbers are on the website for extended dates.

If the FDA is sending more free Covid tests as of Sept. 2023, why are they sending expired ones? The tests I received in the mail are not on the extended expiration date list, so you’re sending something that is not any good?! Are you letting the public know this? I don’t find anything on the website stating you’re sending possible expired tests.

I ordered free at home test and 0n Oct 7, 2023 I received expired tests.
REALLY!!!‼️ Rec’d tests on Friday, October 6. Lot # 199238 with original expiration date of 6/28/2023. Looked up lot number for extended date of January 28, 2024! WOW…A WHOLE THREE AND A HALF MONTHS OF DATE EXTENSION FROM TIME OF RECEIPT‼️ Useless as far as I am concerned. As a 79 year old senior, I am appalled. Why bother? To get rid of old tests is my guess.

Free Covid tests??Waste of time and gov't funds i.e. our money. Expiration date increased 1 yr. ADD ONE YR TO THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THE COVID TESTS I RECEIVED, THEY EXPIRE FEB 7TH 2024 - 4 MONTHS!!!
I ordered the newly free test kits awhile back but they never got here. I just re-ordered them thru an automated system by telephone but all it told me was that I'd already ordered the new free ones. So I have no idea if we'll receive them or not. There should be a live body to talk to, the automated system didn't really get me anywhere and I guess I won't get the new free tests??? What can I do to get them now?
I received my test kits that expired & were extended only until 2/24/24. That is only a little over 4 months. What happens in February if I need to use them? Will you send more? Why send ones that expire so quickly?
Got my tests today and they were expired!!!! Date of exp is 6/19/2023. I checked on the list of extended expiration dates and they are only extended until Jan 2024... what good is this???
Received my free Covid tests and there is no liquid in some of them and only a drop in the others - not enough to take the test accurately. Can we get replacements?
Kits received today, have July 2023 expiration date! I know an extension has been issued but even revised date is only good until 11/23! Seems like a waste of $ to mail kits for covid tests that have limited use, a timeframe that is absurd.

My kits never arrived. Thinking I made a mistake during the order process I tried to order again. There was an error message that my house allowed kits had been exceeded. What should I do to get kits?

I went on line government site, ordered free COVID test kits 9/28/23 to be mailed, is this fraud going on where you order it on line then the mail carrier is supposed to deliver them or are these COVID test kits being pocketed!!
There should be more tests available to those who don’t want to share in their household. If people living together don’t want to share it’s a problem. We have 4 people, and it’s important to retest- why not have more test’s available each week until November? Then do it again in December? Or at least give an update on when more free tests will be available.

The tests sent are not indicated for children under 14. Unacceptable.

Received our free ‘BinaxNOW’ test kits yesterday only to discover they expired over three months ago. Looking on the FDA’a web site as directed to see extended expiration date I discover our lot numbers not listed. Even the closest lot number to ours was only extended to Jan 24.
