“I know about the secret you are keeping from your wife and everyone else. You can ignore this letter, or pay me a $8600 confidentiality fee in Bitcoin”.

It’s enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine, but these chilling words are part of a new scam targeting men.

Here’s how it works. Scammers have been sending letters to men, demanding payments using bitcoin in exchange for keeping quiet about alleged affairs. The letter also explains how to use bitcoin to make the payment.

This is a criminal extortion attempt to separate people from their money.

If you — or someone you know — gets a letter like this, report it immediately to your local police, and the FBI.

Threats, intimidation and high-pressure tactics are classic signs of a scam. Learn how to stay ahead of clever crooks with these practical tips, and check out the ways you can keep your personal information secure.

Hello! As you may have noticed, I sent you an email from your account. This means that I have full access to your device. I've been watching you for a few months now. The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited. If you are not familiar with this, I will explain. Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device. This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it. I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence. Why your antivirus did not detect malware? Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent. I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched. With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks. I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use. If you want to prevent this, transfer the amount of $727 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin"). My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 1N6dubqFmnyQ2qDWvi32ppVbc3kKMTYcGW After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again. I give you 50 hours (more than 2 days) to pay. I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter. Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address. I do not make any mistakes. If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed. Best regards!

I got the same exact thing just yesterday morning, only the dollar amount was slightly different: "Hello! As you may have noticed, I sent you an email from your account. (I also don't have a webcam on my PC either, so it is obviously a scam using spoofed email addresses.)

JUST GOT 10 COPIES OF THIS: Hey, I know your password is: ......... (PASSWORD WAS ONE OF MINE) Your computer was infected with my malware, RAT (Remote Administration Tool), your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit". My malware gave me full access and control over your computer, meaning, I got access to all your accounts (see password above) and I can see everything on your screen, turn on your camera or microphone and you won't even notice about it. I collected all your private data and I RECORDED YOU (through your webcam) SATISFYING YOURSELF! After that I removed my malware to not leave any traces. THIS CONTINUES WITH: Transfer exactly 1200$ with the cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) to my Monero (XMR) address. You can easily buy Monero (XMR) here: www. anycoindirect. eu/en/buy- monero , www. bitnovo. /buy- monero- online-en , www. localmonero. Google for other exchanger. You can send the Monero (XMR) directly to my address, or create your own wallet first here: www. mymonero. , or here: www. cryptonator. , www. freewallet. , then receive and send to mine. It's a very good offer, compared to all that horrible shit that will happen if I publish everything! My Monero (XMR) address is: 4BrL51JCc9NGQ71kWh nYoDRffsDZy7m1HUU7MRU4nUMXAHN FBEJhkTZV9HdaL4 gfuNBxLPc3BeMkL GaPbF5vWtANQubDtN q5uuC622w4we I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT THERE WAS NO VIDEO OF ME, BUT DIDN"T KNOW IF THEY HAD GOTTEN INTO MY COMPUTER SINCE I HAVE MANY PASSWORDS AND THAT WAS ONE. WOULD SO LIKE TO SEE THIS ATTEMPTED EXTORTION PROSECUTED! NEEDS A NICE LENGTHY STAY IN A GOVERNMENT FACILITY... PREFERABLY BY HIMSELF!

10/7/18 Received another email demanding 900$ in bitcoin. Said they "collected all your private data and recorded you through your webcam "Satisfying yourself". I don't have a webcam on my computer. But it makes me nervous that they have an old password. Said I had 2 days to send the bitcoins to them at the following address: 1LfYcbCsssB2niF3VWRBTVZFExzsweyPGQ These people are sick. Too bad they have to resort to this kind of extortion. I guess after reading other peoples emails about this, I will call our local police department and will forward to FBI.

Just got the scam email yesterday, saying they know my password. I am a 63 year old woman. Wanted odd amount of $739 US dollars in bitcoin. Showed my son the junk email. These losers are always trying to scam me over the phone with their IRS calls with a warrant for my arrest, or some other dumb idea they come up with. Now this. Not ever getting any money outta me ever.

Ok I just realized rather than using my own email or some other crazy email the bit coin scammers used a real company, a children’s charity to send it to me aspirespecialneeds.ca but a weird email address after that. I may email them but not sure what good that will do except they may want to change it to not be associated with the scam. Strange.

I haven't even visited any sites. Mine claimed to be a dark web hacker. I think it was j.j something. I just want to know why? And in bitcoin too? Why not paypal or something? It's very stupid.

I got basically the same email, wanting $1400 to be paid within 3 days. Got sex video of me on my webcam. I don't have a webcam but can't wait to see me in the sex video on YouTube as I am 80 yrs. old. I'll have to tell my friends to look for it too. Upset me that he had my password but I haven't used that one in a long time. I blocked him and deleted. Some people are such trash and thieves they will try anything.

I found a similar email in my spam folder. This scammer claimed to have a hacking program that let him use my webcam to record me watching porn and to allow downloading of all my contacts. It was the same threat, to send a video to all my contacts unless I pay thousands in Bitcoin. All that this scammer had was one of my email addresses.

Just received one today, very detailed, correct English grammar, but with diacritics all over the place on top of English words. Went through a step by step process of how information is collected. Like the 70-year old who reported, I'm in my 70s, have never been to a porn site--This was upsetting. I don't have a web cam either, as the threat claimed. I had to look it up to find out whether it was the computer camera. LOL. It's not.
Ozmid
January 15, 2020
Got this today from: jvd@ int-dir. ozmid I guess you're wondering why you're receiving this email right? It would be highly beneficial to your privacy if you didn't ignore it. I have placed a Malware on an adult website (...P...0...r...n site) and as you visited and watched the video your device has been affected, placing a spyware on your machine. Which has recorded you both with webcam and screen capture while you had your "fun Time" allowing me to see exactly what you see. This has also affected your smartphone via an exploit. So do not think for one minute you can circumvent this by reinstalling your OS. You have already been recorded. After that my malware collected all your messengers, emails and social networks contacts. I guess this isn't good news right? But don't worry too much, there's a way we can fix this privacy issue. All i require is a Bitcoin payment of $850 which i think is a fair price considering the circumstances. The address to make the payment is: 3Bm8gYN4NwvEmYPViro 57Sgq5iaUeHX8N If you don't understand bitcoin, go on YouTube and search for "how to buy bitcoin" or google for "localbitcoins", its pretty easy to do it. You have only 48 hours after reading this e-mail to send payment (Be warned i know when you have opened and read this email, i have placed a pixel image inside it. Which enables me to know when you have opened the messaged on exactly what day and time) If you decide to ignore this email, i will have no choice but to forward the video to all the collected contacts you have on your email account, as well as post on your social media accounts, and send as a personal message to all Facebook contacts. and of course make the video publicly available on internet, via you-tube and adult websites. considering your reputation, i highly doubt you want to be exposed to your family/friends/coworkers during this current time. You can actually go to the police, but these people will not likely do anything, the most significant stuff they can do is lock my wallet and you will deprive other people from the opportunity to pay me. So think twice before doing foolish things. If i receive payment all the material will be destroyed and you will never hear from me again. If i do not get my funds for virtually any reason, such as the inability to send cash to a blacklisted wallet – your reputation is going to be wrecked. So make it fast. Do not try to make contact with me because am using a victim email that was hacked and exposed. If you don't believe and want proof just reply to this email with "PROOF" and i will send your video to 5 of your contacts via email, and post on your Facebook wall. In which you will be able to remove it once, not forever.

Just after that, my software collected all your contacts from your Messenger, social networks, and email. dorasue is one of your passwords. if you send me $988 as a donation through Bitcoin, I will erase the recording immediately. Hello everyone, I just received the very first Bitcoin blackmail a few hours ago and a quick online search brought me to this site. I hate the fact that someone out there is trying to take advantage of someone else! FYI, and hoping that somehow it can help others, I am pasting below the email: From: Any Beach
